An Induction to remember

For any church the induction of a new minister is something special. It marks the start of a new chapter in the life of the church, and usually comes after a period of inter-regnum, when there has been no  minister for an extended period of time, making it an exciting time for any church.

If you then double that up by inducting not just a minister, but a minister and community pastor at the same time, and add to it with more people attending than the church building can hold, then you’re starting to get the idea.

Pieter and HettyPieter Lalleman was inducted as our Minister today and his wife Hetty as our community pastor in a service led by our moderator Rev Mike Stanbrook, with Rev Christopher Voke preaching. Rev Stuart Davison, SEBA Regional Minister conducted the induction and we were joined on Zoom by about 120 friends from across Europe – about double what our little church can seat.

Chris Voke spoke from Psalm 127 and Hebrews about new beginnings; Psalm 127 starts “Unless the Lord builds the house, the builders labour in vain.” and encouraged us with reminders that the future always comes  from a new generation.

Our Theme for 2024

There is but one Lord, Jesus Christ,
through whom all things came and through whom we live.
